Can my 48V Odrive v3.5 be used with GBM8017-120T

I’ve been using Odrive to run a Gimbal motor (in the pictures) and I’d faced several issues I would like to know that, Can these two work together? and if they can.Can you give me some example of coding.Show me what I have to do please.

Hi there,

There shouldn’t intrinsically be any issues, however you’ll have to use the GIMBAL motor mode, which may reduce performance especially at higher speeds.

What encoder are you using?

Thank you very much for responding so quickly.
I can’t find the encoder; it seems I might have lost it. Right now, I just want to try using the ODrive board with the motor.

How can I use the gimbal mode?

and I didn’t use any of encoder ,just wanna make it run

The ODrive requires an encoder in nearly all cases, as it’s designed for position/velocity control. If you can take some more pictures of the motor, I’m happy to recommend an encoder you can add with a quick 3D printed connection! Also happy to recommend a small motor+encoder you can pick up that should be easy to get running with the ODrive, if you just want something to spin.

How about senserless mode?

Gimbal mode isn’t compatible with sensorless, and that motor’s too high resistance to be used outside of gimbal mode, so you’ll need an encoder.

Thank you very much. i will find encoder in my shop again .

What shop are you using? Happy to recommend something.
