I have a brushless motor that runs with 36 volts. but I have a 12s lipo battery and was wondering if it’s possible to regulate the voltage for motor down to 36 or I need a buck before Odrive?

Don’t worry about it. The ODrive itself works like a buck converter. It will adjust the voltage naturally as part of running its closed-loop current controller.
A motor designed for use with a ‘dumb’ controller at 36V is perfect for ODrive.
