High voltage sparks coming from motor

Hi. What could be the problem here. When I am running the motor it creates high voltage discharge between motor housing and GND. Could it be related to the motor inductance, is it statics? Should I try to swap the Odrive, the motor, the powersupply?

I would not mind but sometimes it reboots the system.

Hi! This is likely either caused by the triboelectric effect from the rope, or due to bearing currents. I’d recommend putting a conductive brush (called a grounding brush) in contact with the disc and connected to electrical ground.
