Parallel working of odrives on same motor

Hello. Parallel working of odrives

Some continuation of this topic :

I am in a need of ~ 10 kw drive. I can see many options, some are good, some are bad. For custom brushless motor in bigger size.

My question is follow. If one have 24 slots / coils , use only adjanced 24/4= 6 slots for 6 coils, and each of this 4x set is driven by separated odrive board. I may use same hall sensor for each, i may use single per all. It seems to be similar config as in mentioned topic, except better symmetry? I am happy on this setup to be torque/ amps limited as input, no target rpm.

I know where are many 10 kw controllers, or even more, but they all have just same or even more amount of parallel mosfets per leg. Plus beefier windings of course. And all connectors. On single pcb.
This one is same in total, but paralleling in different place + pcb itself is just pcb.

If it’s equivalent to having two motors on the same shaft, then sure that should work fine. I would recommend having two sets of hall sensors, otherwise it would cause a ground loop to connect the same set to two different ODrives.

One can use optocouples to cope with it. How precise is hall sensor position required ? 2 or 4 sets will never be identical. But of course magnets or coils could be not identical too.

I’d recommend digital isolators, just due to speed, but either should be fine.

Within +/- 5-10° electrical should give sufficiently identical performance.
