Startup calibration for Z-axis


I’m planning to mount an odrive to lift Z-axis of 3D printer and CNC, but on startup the load will be high for encoder calibration, did anyone face such a problem? is there a way to increase the CPR calibration current for a specific motor?
or maybe the solution will be to use an absolute encoder (sometime in the future)


yes you can increase the calibration current, but I’d suggest to use an index pulse encoder. Then you can store the calibration and only use lock-in drive to get to the index pulse.
