Dual Motors using Single Encoder

Hello all,

We are planning on using a set up with two motors with the outputs connected together (for packaging reasons, we can’t use a larger single motor). As they must be turning together, would it be possible to use a single encoder for both motors?
Is there any conceivable problem with connecting the outputs of two motors controlled by a single ODrive controller together, regardless of whether we used one or two encoders?

I don’t know that anyone has actually done this yet but it should be possible. Hook the one encoder to both encoder inputs. Run the motor calibration and offset calibration for each motor separately, then put them both in closed loop mode.
