Help choosing ODESC V4.2 24V vs 56V for a 6.5" 36V hoverboard hub motor — real builders please post exact SKU/PSU/resistor

I’m building a DD steering wheel with a 6.5" hoverboard hub motor (nominal 36V - ~41-42V fully
charged). LLMs and product pages give conflicting advice about whether to buy the ODESC / V4.2 24V or
ODESC / V4.2 56V variant. I can’t make the call and need answers from people who actually built this.

If you built this exact setup, please reply with the short, exact facts below (one line each if possible)

  1. Controller SKU/link you used - state plainly: ODESC V4.2 (24V) or ODESC V4.2 (56V) and paste the
    exact seller/ASIN/URL.
  2. PSU used - voltage & max amperage (e.g., 36V, 15A bench supply or battery spec).
  3. Brake / dump resistor - ohms & wattage (e.g., 20 50W ).

Hi! The ODESC is a knockoff/clone of the ODrive, they’re plagued with reliability and performance issues, and we cannot support them. I would strongly recommend a genuine ODrive S1.
