Help needed on connecting CUI-AMT212 encoder to D5065 motor

I believe this question is for customer support. I am a motor newbie so I may be missing something obvious. I recently purchased both a D5065 motor and AMT212 encoder from ODrive. I assumed that no other parts were needed. Based on the video/PDF instructions from " AMT Mounting Instructions | CUI Devices". It shows the encoder directly mounted the motor (for the motor they show), but this does not possible with the D5065 motor. The holes don’t align… Do I need a different encoder base plate to make this work??

thanks

Hi! Generally we recommend using a 3D printed enclosure to mount the encoder on the back of the motor, using the NEMA faceplate:

Here’s an onshape document: Onshape

However, you could alternatively 3D print a custom motor mount.

Thanks for the very fast reply. Is there a link or source for an already built enclosure that I can purchase?

Unfortunately not – however, if you want to DM me your address I’m happy to toss one in the mail for you  I have an extra on my desk
