Hopping robot: attaching encoder to rear side (thin motors)

Hi all,

I’m working on a dynamic hopping robot that requires thin profile direct drive motors. Does anyone have a good method to attach an encoder to the rear end of the following motor? I’m open to all suggestions.

you can press the axle pin down to the bottom side a bit more, and use a shaft mag to fit under the axle retaining ring. But how to find such a diagonally magnetized part? maybe one have to look for the way to build a magnetizing device (abit like a rail gun or flash light).

You could epoxy a diametrically magnetized magnet to the back end of the shaft. Maybe make a jig to keep the magnet centered while the epoxy cures.
