I was able to configure our Odrive motor and use the Dashboard to operate the motor by position and velocity control. However, the board keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. Could it have something to do with the max voltage that we had to specify from our power supply data sheets? I am using a 24V switched mode power supply (not 100% sure it is SMPS but I believe it is). I put 30V as the maximum voltage, but this wasn’t based on any data. The max current of the power supply is 16.7 A, and they recommend not to exceed 80% of the max power – that is all the info I can find here.
I don’t think that should be the issue. It may be EMI – are you using a USB isolator?
Yes, I am using the USB Isolator. We tried on a student’s computer using 40V as the max voltage and it worked without interruption. I then went back and tried on my computer, bumping the max voltage from 30 V to 40 V, and I had no issue with disconnections. At least it seems to be working properly now.
Interesting. Sounds like maybe a USB bug? When you were having those disconnection issues, was it correlated to moving the motor / rapid accelerations/decelerations? Or did it seem random?
I was using a USB C dongle with the USB isolator plugged into a USB A port. Perhaps there were problems with the USB port? The connection/disconnections would happen even when I wasn’t actively moving the motor in the dashboard, and it would happen in idle mode as well. Interestingly, when I put 24V as the max voltage, it wouldn’t connect at all, so that’s when I bumped it up to 30V.
