S1 with D5605 - funny sound?

I received my S1, D5605, AMT212B-V-OD a couple of weeks ago, and I finally found some time to set it up.

I’m using the GUI to test the setup, and I noticed what seems like an unusual sound during calibration and operation.

Here are a couple of video clips (please turn up the volume):

Does this sound normal? If not, what parameters should I adjust to fix it?

Thanks for your help!

Hi! The slight “hissing” sound is normal – this is just normal current noise and fluctuations, amplified by the motor’s design. The rubbing sound in the second video is definitely not normal – my best guess is that the encoder wasn’t assembled properly, and it’s rubbing internally – likely as a result of misalignment between the two plates. Those AMT style encoders require a good deal of mounting precision, and shouldn’t make any noise whatsoever during operation – you can listen to see if there’s any rubbing in the encoder itself. I’d recommend printing a more rigid spacer between the two plates, and making sure to follow the AMT21 assembly guide closely.
