The dfu mod did not work for me and I launched it through the odrivetool dfu command, after which I downloaded the firmware and pressed reset. Now the controller is not detected.
Did you flip the RUN/DFU switch back to the RUN position? Where did you purchase your v3.6?
I switched the device to RUN position. I bought it on aliexpress
Ah, that’s likely your issue. Unfortunately, those knockoff ODrives can have issues. If it was sold under the name “ODrive”, you can get your money back 
I’d maybe recommend an ODrive S1?
