I’m trying to setup an ODrive Pro to run on a 3S battery pack (8.4-12.6V range)
I noticed that the min dc_bus_under_voltage is ~10.5, and I’m wondering if I can push it a little lower. I’m not working on anything critical so I’m not concerned with potentially drop-outs nor if I end up damaging the ODrive.
Hi! Unfortunately 10.5V is the hard minimum of the Pro – undervoltage won’t damage it though, it’ll just disable itself. Any way you can use a 4S/5S/6S instead?
Thanks for the info! Can the ODriveS1 handle a lower voltage? And yes, I can use a higher voltage battery, but for my particular application I’m actually trying to run a benchtop test to see if I can hit my target motor torque & velocity using a 3S battery.
Both S1 and Pro are limited to 10.5V unfortunately. My recommendation would be to give the 3S battery a shot, as the nominal charged voltage (3.7V/cell) is 11.1V, which should be enough.
What motor are you using? You should be able to determine the performance quantitatively, without necessarily having to do bench testing.
