Thermal pad placement for fan heat sink?

Heatsink and Fan for ODrive Pro/S1 comes with a large grey thermal pad. Is this intended to be placed between the Odrive enclosure and the heatsink?
The smaller green thermal pad I have placed correctly with the MOSFETs sandwiching the pad between the PCB and enclosure.

Yep, between the enclosure and the heatsink. I usually just eyeball it right in the middle – the most important thing is just making sure it’s flat and smooth, so that it gets evenly compressed once everything’s bolted together. Wiping both metal surfaces down with some isopropyl alcohol can help to ensure the best thermal conductivity, but it’s not required.

Awsome, thanks. Are they for sale on the store? I ruined one, it just accidentally got stuck to itself.

Also I dont think that pad is shown in the CAD so perhaps at a future point it could be added for clarity. Thanks for the help! Loving my pros.

The pad is a 50x50x0.25mm Honeywell PTM7950, any generic equivalent should work (e.g. Amazon.com: PTM7950 40x80x0.25mm Phase Change GPU Thermal Pad, JOYJOM High Conductive Silicone Grease 8.5W/mK CPU Thermal Paste for PS5 Steam Deck CPU GPU SSD M.2 Laptop : Electronics)

Good idea to add it to the CAD! And very happy to hear you’re having a good experience with your Pros  would love to hear what you’re doing with it, if you can share!

Sounds great thanks! I’m just getting the servos turning at this time  Later down the road I would like to build a quadruped.
